Depending on the city and state you’re in, you might be able to survive on word of mouth. However, this will eventually become obsolete in the age of technology. We understand that it can be difficult for some to make the switch. But, keep an open mind and see what you can do to expand yourself.

  • Advertise on popular websites. Sites that promote real estate make it so your name comes across a large number of people all at once. 
  • Short and sweet. Just like an ad in the paper, an advertisement on the internet is formatted the same way. Keep it simple and make yourself known.
  • Get your business on Google. If you’re a broker, it never hurts to register your business with Google Business Manager. This way, your clients can find you more easily, and your name could come up when they search for a real estate agent. 

And these are just simple ways to get your business out on the internet. With more digging and research, you can find the right equation to get your business more exposure.

Communicating Effectively

Marketing yourself is only one-half of the battle. Once you have a potential client in front of you, now you have to communicate effectively and clearly. Remember: your client is a real person. What would you want in their position? You’d want someone who is active in the conversation but isn’t overbearing. Turn your entire body to your client when they speak to show that you’re paying attention, and be prepared to be okay with saying, “I don’t know, but I can find out.” There’s no shame in not knowing what to say to a question because you can always get an answer later! 

It never hurts to be aware of your communication and body language when you’re dealing with clients.
